(TGA ) Thermogravimetric analysisis a thermal analysis technique that measures the mass change of a sample as a function of temperature or time, under a controlled atmosphere. By monitoring these mass losses, it reveals key information about the composition and thermal behavior of a material.
What can TGA determine? To go further, TGA can be coupled with other techniques: TGA-FTIR or TGA-MS to identify the gases emitted during decomposition , or simultaneous thermal analysis (STA) combining TGA and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). TGA is part of the family of thermal analysis methods, alongside DSC , DMA (dynamic mechanical analysis) , and TMA, which are often combined to fully characterize a material.
