Effluent analysis: ensure compliance and environmental quality
Effluent analysis is essential to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and limit the impact of industrial discharges on the natural environment. Whether dealing with wastewater, industrial effluents, or urban discharges, regular monitoring makes it possible to identify pollutants, assess the effectiveness of treatment processes, and anticipate risks of non-compliance.
Our laboratories carry out in-depth analyses to support you in monitoring your effluents and to meet the requirements of current standards, such as the Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC) , the decree of 21 July 2015 relating to sanitation systems or the obligations of the Environmental Code .
Analyses and parameters studied in the effluents
Analyses performed on effluents allow for the characterization of their chemical, physical, and microbiological composition. These analyses include, in particular:
- Physico-chemical analysis : measurement of pH, conductivity, suspended solids (SS), chemical oxygen demand (COD), biological oxygen demand (BOD5), turbidity.
- Heavy metal analysis : lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), arsenic (As), hexavalent chromium (Cr6+), zinc (Zn).
- Search for organic pollutants : polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), pesticides, pharmaceutical residues, volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
- Microbiological control : detection of fecal coliforms, Escherichia coli, enterococci.
- Analysis of specific parameters according to the sector of activity: cyanides, sulfates, phosphates, total nitrogen, surfactants.
Areas of application and industries concerned
Effluent analysis is intended for industries and communities subject to environmental monitoring obligations. It is particularly relevant for:
- The industrial sector : control of emissions from production sites (chemicals, metallurgy, food processing, textiles, pharmaceuticals).
- Wastewater treatment plants : monitoring of treated wastewater before discharge into the natural environment.
- Agricultural holdings : monitoring of livestock effluents and runoff water containing fertilizer and pesticide residues.
- Communities and urban infrastructure : monitoring of stormwater, retention basins and sanitation networks.
