Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, is a water-soluble vitamin essential for the proper functioning of the body. Highly sensitive to heat, light, and oxygen, its actual content in finished products can vary considerably. Analytical methods: HPLC-DAD and colorimetric titrimetry
YesWeLab offers two reference methods for vitamin C analysis:
- HPLC-DAD (high-performance liquid chromatography with UV-visible detection): the method of choice for accurately quantifying ascorbic acid in complex or sensitive matrices. It also allows for the differentiation of ascorbic acid from its oxidized form (dehydroascorbic).
- Titrimetry (2,6-dichlorophenolindophenol method): a rapid and commonly used method for simple matrices (juice, fresh fruit, solutions) or routine controls. It is based on the redox reaction between vitamin C and a specific dye.
