Description
Perfume typing involves analyzing and recreating the olfactory composition of an existing fragrance in order to develop an equivalent or inspired version. This approach is used to reformulate a scent, identify its components, or develop an alternative while adhering to regulations. It is particularly valued in the cosmetics, hygiene, food flavoring, functional perfumery, and cleaning product sectors.
The analysis is performed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), often with thermal desorption and olfactometry (GC-O), to identify odorant molecules, their concentration, and their sensory impact. The resulting profile is then interpreted by a perfumer or formulator to propose a reformulation adapted to technical or regulatory constraints (IFRA, allergens, naturalness, etc.).
The matrices analyzed include: alcoholic perfumes, perfumed oils, sprays, perfumed cosmetic products, laundry detergents, candles, diffusers, etc.
At YesWeLab , we collaborate with a carefully selected network of laboratories, most of which are certified and/or accredited (ISO 17025, COFRAC, etc.). These laboratories are chosen based on your specific needs, the matrices to be analyzed, and the required analytical techniques or methods.
If you have any particular requirements, please do not hesitate to specify them in your request: our scientific team will do everything possible to respond accurately and promptly.
Since 2020, numerous manufacturers, distributors, and engineering firms have entrusted us with the management of their analyses, sending us their samples through our digital platform.
