Description

Geraniol is a monoterpene alcohol found in many essential oils (geranium, citronella, palmarosa, etc.), valued for its floral aromatic properties as well as its antimicrobial, insect-repellent and soothing effects.

It is commonly used in cosmetic formulations, food flavorings, cleaning products, or natural biocides.

Geraniol analysis allows for quality control of natural extracts, standardization of formulations, and verification of compliance with regulatory limits, particularly for allergen labeling. The analysis is performed by gas chromatography (GC-FID or GC-MS), ensuring precise quantification in volatile and complex matrices.
