Objective of the analysis
Gas analysis determines the qualitative and/or quantitative composition of a gas sample. This analysis applies to simple or complex mixtures and can be targeted (known compounds) or exploratory (broad analysis). It is essential in many industrial sectors for:
- Controlling the quality of air , modified atmospheres or technical gases
- Evaluate emissions of solid or liquid materials
- Verify regulatory or environmental
- Characterize the products resulting from chemical or thermal
Available analytical techniques
Depending on the nature of the compounds to be identified or quantified, different methods are used:
- Gas chromatography (GC) : separation of volatile compounds
- GC-MS (mass spectrometry) : precise identification of compounds
- Infrared (IR) or UV-Vis : functional recognition
