Description
Why analyze the BADGE?
Bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (BADGE) is a derivative of bisphenol A (BPA) widely used in the formulation of epoxy resins, particularly for interior coatings of food packaging, technical adhesives, and varnishes. Due to its endocrine disrupting potential, it is regulated in food contact materials under Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011.
The dosage of bisphenol A diglycidyl ether or BADGE is crucial for:
- Evaluate specific migrations to foods or simulators
- Check compliance with regulatory limits (SML: 9 mg/kg)
- Ensure consumer safety and packaging compliance
Analytical methods
The analysis is carried out by LC-MS/MS or HPLC, after targeted extraction of the BADGE from the matrix (film, coating, glue).
The methods comply with the requirements of EC Regulation 1935/2004 and are validated according to ISO 17025.
Analyzed matrices
- Epoxy resin food packaging
- Interior varnishes for cans or metal boxes
- Multi-layer films or technical coatings
- Glues, adhesives or protective lacquers
